The area between your image and the edge of a postcard is known as the border or "bleed". This border is similar to a picture frame. Depending on how you want your card to look you can choose from different border styles.

"Full bleed" is equivalent to no border. "No bleed" constitutes a border that must defined. Top and bottom heavy borders are chosen to accommodate a headline.
