Images that are out of proportion with the overall dimensions of your postcard need to use a custom border (as shown in figure 3) or the image must be cropped. All images, after being enlarged or reduced, will crop 1/16" to 1/8" to allow for bleed.

How can I tell if my image is in proper proportion?

When your image is in proportion to our postcard size, you should be able to draw a straight line through the corners and they would line up exactly. In the figure right, the two rectangles are out of proportion with one another. In this case, you would need to crop your image. You can use the Cropping Template shown below to find out if your image is in proportion.

How do I print my image in full frame with nothing cropped off?

To print your image in full frame with nothing cropped off, you must place the image in a window frame within the postcard layout and then create a custom border around the image.

Please Note: The top/bottom and the left/right borders are not exactly even. Cropping your image first before placing in a window frame in the layout can ensure that borders are even.

How do I print my image with no border?

To print your image with no border (this is known as a full bleed), it is necessary to crop part of your image so the image will be in proportion. When cropping for a full bleed, remember to leave a 1/8" trim on all four sides.

Cropping Template

Place your image in the bottom left corner of the template, making sure it is flush with the left and bottom edges. For vertical images, simply rotate the template. Draw a vertical and horizontal line to indicate what part of the image will be cropped out. Please specify what you want cropped out, for example, "bottom edge", "top and bottom", or ........."
